Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement.

Made from flax oil seasoned, heavy weight black iron with four short feet and assembled with solid brass screws.
Place on top of hot surfaces such as log burning stove to keep pan or casserole warming or slow cooking.
Iron trivets are a necessity for wood stove cooking. Stove top trivets protect the surface of your wood stove or allow a pot to rest just a little above the hot surface. Trivets, when not on the stove's surface, also protect your work surfaces and table. Raise your cookware from wood stove top to help prevent scorching the bottom of cookware.
The ideal size to use with Netherton Foundry larger size pots and pans (11'', 12'', 13'' and 14'') as well as our iconic casseroles and tagines.
Useful and beautiful.

“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be beautiful or believe to be useful”, William Morris 1880.

Drawing, quite literally, on the inspiration of the Arts and Crafts movement, which was itself inspired by the ideas of historian Thomas Carlyle, art critic John Ruskin, and designer William Morris, we have created this beautiful and useful trivet. Made from our iconic black iron, with the addition of metal feet, this trivet can be used to hold anything from your teapot to casserole and the metal feet will sit happily on the wood burning stove. Our design ethos across the entire range stems from the  Arts and Crafts movement, which emerged from the attempt to reform design and decoration in mid-19th century Britain. It was a reaction against a perceived decline in standards that the reformers associated with machinery and factory production. Their critique was sharpened by the items that they saw in the Great Exhibition of 1851, which they considered to be excessively ornate, artificial, and ignorant of the qualities of the materials used. That approach may seem old fashioned, but we actually believe their thinking was far sighted and our belief in knowing the provenance of our materials and seeking local supplies wherever possible bears this out.
