Ludlow food festival Sunday talk lineup
In the tent – no, not the Bake Off one. Netherton Foundry’s talk tent in the Castle gardens at Ludlow is far less stressful and even if it rains, there shouldn’t be any soggy bottoms.
Here’s the line up for Sunday.
At 11:30am Daphne Du Cross, of the Shropshire Good Food Partnership will be discussing the topic Slow, Local, Radical: Building a Better Food Culture with Slow Food’s Shane Holland and Tish Dockerty. An insightful look at food production, distribution and education.



Daphne Du Cros, is a food policy researcher, educator, and farmer. She puts her academic research in food policy and environmental science into practice on her family farm in rural Shropshire designed for diversity, connection and responsibly – produced food.
Shane Holland is the chair of Slow food UK, his work encompassing food and health, access to food and food and climate change in developing countries has led him into his role educating and advising on the importance of sustainability in food.
Tish Dockerty, is a partner for apple Teme a local apple juice producer and part time chef, she is a strong advocate of sustainable local food production and passionate about food education of young and old of all things good about enjoying what you eat.

James Sherwin’s Wild Shropshire restaurant has been in the Michelin guide since 2021 and has recently been awarded Shropshire’s only Green Star. Fellow Green Star holder Charmaine McHugo of Chapters in Hay on Wye will be joining James and Steve Guy at 12:30pm to talk about the challenges and opportunities for sustainability in hospitality. This will be a fascinating look behind the scenes of restaurant sourcing and philosophy, reflecting a growing concern about our food’s provenance and environmental impact.

We first met Mallika Basu in a pub carpark in Market Drayton and last week we heard her on the panel of Radio 4’s Kitchen Cabinet…. if we find the time, Mallika, we will bring cake to your talk about The Flavour of Place: Celebrating Food as Cultural Connection with Shane Holland.
We cannot promise cake for everyone, but this promises to be a spicy exchange and starts at 1:30pm
