The Frontier Stove. A portable log burning stove.

The perfect way of cooking outdoors if you have a lot of people to feed.
Designed by our friends in Cornwall, this stove works very well with Netherton cast and spun iron pans.

The Frontier Stove Story

The Frontier Stove is a portable log burner originally designed for use in the humanitarian aid world. From humble beginnings, this little stove developed a cult following due to its clever engineering and robust design and is now heating up the camping world!
Around one third of the world’s population still cook on solid fuel and the health problems that arise from breathing in toxic fumes from open fires is a very real problem.
The Frontier Stove was designed to remedy this problem. It has a long flue, which transports harmful fumes away from those cooking on the stove and the increased efficiency means that less fuel is needed. The Frontier has been sent out to disaster zones all over the world and has stood up to years of rigorous testing in the field.

A portable woodburning stove

The Frontier Stove was designed with portability in mind: the sturdy legs easily fold down and the flue can be dismantled and stored inside the belly of the stove.
The total weight of the stove and flues is 10kg, there’s even a convenient carry handle on its side so you can grab it and go!

Tents, vans, sheds, boats and yurts…

The Frontier Stove’s long flue means it can be easily installed in all sorts of fire-retardant shelters. It’ll keep you warm inside your tent or shed, meaning you can stay toasty camping all year round and you can cook on it too. You will need a Spark Arrestor, this is available from us, and either a Frontier Stove Tent Flashing Kit or the Frontier Stove Shed Flashing Kit.  Call us on 01746 862781 for more information. Int. +44 1746 862781 or email us at

The Frontier Stove has a 60mm diameter flue so that after use the flues can be stored inside the stove for convenience. This cunning design feature means you never lose anything and your Frontier is always packed ready for the next adventure.
We recommend only burning well-seasoned, dry timber as this will give you the most efficiency and greatest heat output.  If you do find yourself burning green unseasoned timber and you are finding it difficult to keep the stove operating (for example running poorly and producing little heat) you may experience some restriction in draw as your flue starts to build up an internal layer of ash. At this point you will need to clean flue with a brush.

The technical stuff!

With its contained firebox, the Frontier Stove is 10 times more efficient than an open fire.
This means that you need less fuel for the same heat output and cooking temperatures.
It’s also good news for the environment: burning less fuel means a huge reduction in harmful emissions that can damage the ozone.
The unique Controlled Open Flame Technology (C.O.F.T.) means that you can harness the power of your fuel and channel it into cooking a meal!
You can choose to either cook on the hot plate for a more measured heat or remove the top plate and cook directly on the flames.
We accept no responsibility for the use or misuse of the Frontier Stove. We only recommend this stove for use in fire retardant tents, tipis or yurts. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the shelter used has the appropriate fire retardant qualities necessary. We advise you not to leave the Frontier Stove unattended in the shelter and to make sure it has been extinguished prior to going to sleep. Always make sure that the Frontier Stove is positioned on a fire retardant surface like our heat mat, as accidental sparks may go straight through the groundsheet. We do not accept any liability to any party for loss or damage incurred by use of the Frontier Stove however caused.
