The Guardian: "It is a brilliant pan" Thomasina Miers

Membership of the Netherton Foundry Pan Spotters Club (NFPSC) is growing apace and we have doubled our register. The latest (second) recruit is Mrs LD of Suffolk who spotted this oblique reference in last Saturday’s (1.11.2025) Guardian Feast supplement, where Thomasina Miers is talking about her new Netherton Foundry chef’s prospector pan, selected after much deliberation at the Abergavenny Food festival. She cooked a delicious sounding chicken dish to christen it.

This is what she said "I recently invested in a beautifully wide, Shropshire-made pan that works on the hob and in the oven with equal ease, and without the chemical nonstick lining I keep reading about. It is a brilliant pan." And that was not the only one she chose, so keep looking for more Netherton Foundry pans out there in their natural habitat – the kitchen
Where will they pop up next and who will be the first to spot them? And if you’ve got one yourself, we’d love to see your photos too. After all, our pans can be found in the best of kitchens and that includes yours!

A lifelong love of cooking and travel has shaped Thomasina’s career in food – the route from Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, to running a cocktail bar in Mexico and winning Masterchef in 2005 led to the founding of Wahaca, her amazing chain of restaurants inspired by her love of Mexico. Along the way she has found time to write seven cookery books, to work with both the Soil Association and the charity Chefs in Schools, which she started with Henry Dimpleby.
