Kitchen treasures, at the Ludlow Food Festival we talk to Bee Wilson about The Heart-Shaped Tin

Heartbreak and healing, how a cake tin falling out of a cupboard inspired Bee Wilson’s beautiful book, The Heart Shaped Tin and helped her work through the pain of her marriage ending.

I imagine that everyone coming to listen to our conversation with Bee in the Netherton Foundry Castle Garden tent will have something in their kitchen that they treasure beyond its apparent value; its worth measured in memories and its merit in sentiment.  And whether that special something is used every day or “kept for best”, it has a truly special place in the owner’s heart.

Identity, resilience, hope, history and love are all reflected in these objects, the stories both heartbreaking and heartwarming.  Bee weaves her own emotions into the story of the heart shaped cake tin, from “once upon a time” to a “happy thereafter” and captures the essential emotions at the heart of every contributor. Bee’s intellect is matched by her compassion and humanity in researching and recording these compelling stories.

Join us in the Netherton Foundry Castle Garden tent on Saturday at 2:30pm.
