Jolly Allotment Tahini Carrots cooked on a Netherton Foundry 12 inch Chapa
To prevent the Germans finding out that Britain was using radar to intercept bombers on night raids during World War II, the Air Ministry issued press releases stating that British pilots were eating lots of carrots to give them exceptional night vision. This fooled the British public, as well as German High Command and an old wives’ tale was born.
But it is not a complete myth that carrots make you see better. The vitamin A in carrots can help to improve vision in dim light, although a diet of carrots will not mean that you can see in the dark, nor will it negate the need for sight correcting specs!
Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin, so this recipe from Jolly Allotment’s Polly ticks all the boxes, delicious chapa griddled carrots, slathered in a yogurt sauce. And it also demonstrates how quick and easy it is to rustle up something ridiculously tasty when you are cooking outdoors. So why not make the most of the sunny weather and light evenings to take your kitchen outside. Simple suppers are the order of the day here.
Our chapa griddle makes light of every day fire cooking and is compact enough for the smallest outdoor space, can be dismantled for easy transportation and storage and of course, the griddle plate can be used in doors when the weather turns against us.
We’ve got a chapa for everyone, starting with the 12” version and ending up with our giant 24” models.
