Kristin Scott Thomas uses Netherton Blini Pans

Kristin Scott Thomas uses Netherton Blini Pans

So here's the story.  A few days ago I took an order over the phone for 3 blini pans. I asked for the delivery address, which was the Old Vic Theatre in London.   Intrigued, I enquired whether these were for the caller's own use or for the thetare.  It transpired that I was talking to the Production Manager and he wanted them for  the forthcoming production of Electra and they would not be used in the conventional way that you would expect a pan to be used.  They are planning to use them when they create some pyrotechnic special effects for the offerings to the gods, but further information would only be revealed on the understanding that he would have to shoot me.  Dedicated as I am to a good story, there are limits beyond which I will not go.  Needless to say, on this occasion I reached those limits, but I have asked for photos, so hopefully once the previews are over and the reviews written, we will be able to tell you more.

ELECTRA AT THE OLD VIC

Kristin Scott Thomas and director Ian Rickson reunite to bring Sophocles’ tragedy to The Old Vic in the round. Frank McGuinness delivers a charged adaptation of this classic tale of power and revenge.

Electra is bound by grief following the murder of her father Agamemnon, unwilling to forgive and consumed by a desire for revenge, her anger builds. On the return of her brother Orestes, Electra’s fury explodes without mercy, leading to a bloody and terrifying conclusion.

Kristin Scott Thomas’ television and film credits include Four Weddings and a Funeral, The English Patient, Gosford Park and most recently Only God Forgives. Theatre includes The Seagull(Royal Court and Broadway), Betrayal and Old Times all directed by Ian Rickson.
