Greenfeast by Nigel including PASTA, TOMATOES in a Netherton pan

Greenfeast, by Nigel Slater

A new book by Nigel Slater is always something to shout about and our copy of his latest book, Greenfeast, landed on the mat yesterday.
Nigel keeps a "daily diary of everything that ends up on his plate" and reviewing these journals, he has noticed that, "despite being resolutely omnivorous... much of his everyday eating has become plant based".
This book is based on a collection of what he eats when he finishes work and, as such, is a glorious guide for what we too can eat when we finish work.
We dived between the beautiful cloth bound, bright pink covers and lost all track of time. By page 60, we had run out of page markers for things we were adding to the must make list. And what particularly appeals are the little foot notes, suggesting ingredient substitutions and variations.

And then we reached page 70, Pasta, Tomatoes; with an accompanying photo on page 71 of pasta and tomatoes.............. in his prospector pan!
There was a pause in our perusal of the remaining pages, while we took in Jonathan Lovekin's beautiful picture and experienced a warm glow of pride....
.... and then page 74, Gnocchi, Tomato, Radishes and on and on................

Nigel Slater's Eat was one of his bestselling and most popular books ever. Now he has written GreenFeast, the green follow-up to Eat, packed full of short, doable and fast vegetable recipes that are usefully divided into four categories:
  • In the frying pan
  • In the hand
  • On the hob
  • Puddings
The GreenFeast recipes are for those who want easy recipes for eating more vegetable dishes throughout the week and there will be suggestions for changing up each recipe, as well as lists and lists of quick ideas.
GreenFeast is split into two volumes: GreenFeast: Spring Summer (coming in May 2019) and GreenFeast: Autumn Winter (which will be published in September 2019).
