Netherton Autumn News 2022

Autumn News 2022

Hello from the crew at Netherton Foundry, we’d like to bring you up to date with what we’ve been doing recently and share a delicious new recipe with you!

Festival season

We spent two weekends in September, out and about. Firstly, at Ludlow Food festival and the following weekend at Abergavenny – two festivals, two castles.  Both events were hard work and great fun.

We love getting a chance to meet our friends and the extended Netherton family at these events. Being able to talk to people about why we are so passionate about what we do is one of the best parts of the job. It’s also a great chance to show off the full range – which we rarely get to do in real life. It’s also a fantastic way of showing off what we have been working on all year. And for grabbing chefs from all walks of life to help us design and develop the exciting products we will be launching next year…make sure to watch this space.

Here are just a few shots of the demonstration chefs using our pans on stage and over fire.

The best thing about food festival is always the food and this year was no different as we were sustained and replenished by Mr and Mrs Todiwala of Café Spice, Origin Pizza, Peter Cooks Bread and Angel Bakery

New workshops, new kit

Expanding both our floor space and our work force - that’s our head count, not their waistlines – now means that the wait for your order will not be months, or even weeks.

We have moved in to a second unit in Cleobury Mortimer, just a hop and a skip from Highley and we are handily located on the same site as Hobsons brewery. This also meant that we could lay out the Highley workshops to create more space for the assembly and packing team.

Here are a couple of shots of our “new” kit arriving in the Cleobury Mortimer workshops.

All of this has increased our production capacity and means we now aim to despatch all orders within 7 days.  So plan ahead by all means, particularly if you are buying for a specific  occasion, but as we know the waiting is the hardest part, we have done our best to improve on delivery times.

What have we been making?

There are essentials in life and then there are those things you don’t need, but really, really want.  And what about the things you didn’t even know existed?

We have got them all covered. So whether you are buying for yourself or someone else, be it a gift, a treat or a can’t live without, come direct to the maker and our ironmasters will produce your choice especially for you.  Hand made by us with passion and skill, all our cookware is made to last, to be loved and cherished in its new home.

So, let’s get back to basics

The 10” and 12” prospector pans - because size matters when you are feeding people – are the workhorses of the kitchen.  Designed not only to look good, but to work in more ways than you can imagine. On the hob for bacon and eggs, pasta sauce and risottos, under the grill for a perfectly gilded gratin and in the oven for anything from a roast chicken to apple pie and fabulous focaccia.

If you only ever buy one thing from us, this is it. It will last and last.  If you buy a 10” prospector pan and use it only once a week for a year, that works out a £1.27 per use.  That’s less than a Magnum ice cream, less than half the price of a Big Mac, 1.7 bags of Walkers crisps or a third of a pint of beer.

The all new chef’s pan range
A beautiful new shape and a new size – the 11” chef’s pans have deep sides with a gently curved profile and a broad cooking area across the base.
You can choose these as prospector pans or frying pans, with or without a lid.  And if you want a glimmer of glamour, they are also available in copper.

We are indebted to two of our favourite food photographers for these stunning photos of our new chef’s pan and chef’s prospector pan.

This one is by Roz Atkinson, better known on Instagram as @her_dark_materials.

And this mouth-watering curry, cooked in a chef’s prospector pan is the work of Del Sneddon, aka @weerascal on both Instagram and Twitter
