Netherton Foundry cast iron electric tagine with a Rachel Frost hand thrown & hand painted meadow flower blue ceramic lid.
The tagine lid in this item is hand made to special order, so the delivery time is around 4 weeks from placing order.
The electric tagine consists of:
Electric Heater base with 3 cooking settings:
High - 220 watts, Low - 150 watts and Keep Warm - 70 watts (use this for extra slow cooking).
1 metre cord with plug.
Cast iron 7 pint (4 litre) oven safe bowl.
The bowls are individually cast in sand and fettled by hand.
Each casting has its own unique surface pattern. To this we add a distinct texture which improves the bonding of the flax oil seasoning to the iron. With use, the seasoned finish becomes smoother and develops a glossier patina.
British turned oak knobs and feet are fitted to the cast lid, tagine lid and heater base.
The glazed ceramic tagine lid is hand thrown and painted for us exclusively by renowned Shropshire ceramic artist, Rachel Frost, in the Ironbridge Gorge
The electric tagine can be used as a slow cooker and is excellent for soups, traditional hearty fare, exotic international dishes, puddings and even bread; it's all about keeping the taste in your food.
It's a great way to feed the family during the week, especially if you need to serve at different times.

CUSTOMER REVIEW: Electric Ceramic Tagine with Cast Iron Bowl Mary B
This is a piece of kitchen equipment that I do not want to hide away in a cupboard. It is attractive to look at and is just amazing to cook in. The cast iron pan does not burn the food and it is so easy to use placing it directly from hob after pre-cooking to its own electric heat source, cutting down on use of other pots and pans. We are just so "in love" with our new Tagine, can't wait to use it again!

The first thing to note about this product is it's quality. It's heavy, beautiful looking, beautifully manufactured, and you just know it's going to last for years.
The next thing you find is a delightful ribbon bound recipe file with lots of very unusual recipes that you don't find in the normal tagine cookbooks.
I've tried out several of the new recipes - all lovely. The electric base is easy to clean and very responsive to it's temperature control - not only high and low, but an additional setting to maintain a serving temperature without over cooking.
But the best thing of all for me is that as the tagine base is cast iron, it can go directly on an electric/gas hob too.
This means you can brown the meat/vegetables in the tagine base on a normal hob, then transfer the tagine to it's own electric base for the slow cooking.
No frying pan is therefore required.
This product is suitable for 220-240 volt power supplies.
It is supplied to all territories with a UK 13 amp plug,
excepting sales to Continental Europe where an earthed 2 pin Schuko style plug is also provided.
