A heavy duty, versatile cooking system for use in the wild, on the campsite, at the beach or allotment, in the garden or on the patio.
Developed with the help of Geneveive Taylor
, author, presenter and live fire expert.
A large, 15 inch diameter, black iron griddle plate is supported by a chain from the top of the tripod.
Cook stunning, flavoursome food on open flame wood fires.
Fry or cook directly on the griddle surface or use as a hob for pans and kettles.
Cooking temperature is readily controlled by raising and lowering the griddle by the chain.
The tripod folds and can be disassembled for storage and carrying.
Each of the three tripod legs is constructed from two heavy gauge steel tubes.
The legs are finished with high temperature black powder coating and are bolted together with stainless and brass fixings.
The tubes are connected by the black iron tripod crown which allows the tubes to fold out in use and fold in for storage.
An oak stopper finishes each of the tripod legs at top and bottom.
They can be disassembled for storage and carrying.
These stunning beach shots are © courstesy of Welsh photographer Heather Birnie
of an event run by Derw and Hannah of Tan a Mwg
, a communal feasting experience, who tour in & around Wales (UK), bringing people together & closer to their local food producers. They focus on age old methods of food preparation and preservation, with an openness to influences from their culturally diverse community, with an intimate setting of misshapen tableware, tasteful music and delicious dinner to refine the art of sharing.
The chain adjustment system.
The steel chain is held on to the griddle plate by three black iron clamps with adjustable brass wingnuts, the same clamps can also hold a barbeque plate.
The chain runs over a free running oak pulley held in the tripod crown at the top of the legs.
The griddle is raised or lowered to the desired height by pulling the end of the chain. This can then be secured to a captive bolt on one of the legs and is then locked in place with a wingnut.
This system ensures that you don't need to stand over the fire and makes the weight of the food, pans and griddle plates easy to handle.
The chain is long enough to allow the griddle to be lowered and swung to the ground beside the fire without the need to detach it from the tripod.
It's then simple and safe to stir, add ingredients and serve food without the need to stand over the open fire.

Always ensure that you're equipped to deal with all eventualities, including, but not exclusively, fire, burns and scalds.
Here are a couple of web pages about fire lighting and safety to get you thinking.
If we were to recommend somes book on the subject of outdoor cooking, these would be our first choices.
