Who doesn’t love a pie?

We've made the spun iron pie dish in celebration of Annie Rigg's new book, Pies and Tarts. Published by food experts Quadrille, It's a glorious collection of all manner of pies and tarts, both sweet and savoury. Beautiful photos, tantalising flavours and crystal clear instructions make this a serious contender in the pantheon of baking books. “The radio’s on, the next hour is clear; and the kitchen is tidy.”  This is the opening sentence of Annie’s book and even if your kitchen, like ours, is rarely tidy (although the radio is always on), then there is always an excuse for a pie. As the opening paragraph concludes ….”there’s something uniquely soothing about making a pie”. The book meticulously covers recipes for all manner of pastry, including some which we hadn’t come across, as well as a plethora of the most mouthwatering fillings imaginable. The only problem we have is selecting where to start!
